Community Activities

I created this community, but generating activity is a different beast. I intend the community to be primarily based on news and discussion, as well as potentially become a platform for fans to get to know each other a little better through these activities.

These are some of the ideas I came up with:

• High Speed! volume 1 reread (8 weeks: January - March): ongoing!!
• Free! rewatch with (character/staff) interviews in between. (12 weeks: April- June)
• Drama CD 1 (???)
• FrFr! rewatch (one week)
• Drama CD 2 (???)
• Illustration works CD (???)
• High Speed! volume 2 reading session (???)
• Gen Fanworks event
• Friending meme

I think that this is a great idea! Honestly, this is literally just what I've been looking for. (Getting real tired of the ship wars on tumblr, & what planning to make one of these myself if no one else had the idea. A nice, moderated community, one you can actually communicate well with others in.) (Tumblr is great & all, but it's not a platform that really fosters users talking to one another. This is far better for that sort of thing.)

It's almost spooky - I had all the same ideas for community activities that you did. I'm rewatching the series (& planning to reread High Speed!) anyway, but I would love to be able to discuss the episodes - I'll retain more information about them that way. (I'm a fanfic writer & sort of a perfectionist; I get all hung up over the details.)

Might I also suggest we do things like the drama CDs & the character interviews, & other extended material? Plus there's some fandom things on tumblr though I'm not so sure about those. (I'm thinking about the secret Santas going on - at my last count there were 3 ongoing- & there's also a shipping relay that has people writing fic/making fanart/creating amvs. But maybe we should leave tumblr to it?)

I'm really looking forward to this anyway, & I'll see if I can lure anyone off tumblr over here, since that's where I'm most active. I'm really looking forward to this anyway!

(I also apologise for any spelling errors - my laptop's broken & I'm mostly interacting with the internet via my mobile phone, which is quite awkward.)

Welcome! ...I haven't promoted the comm anywhere yet, so seeing new member/comment notifications comes as a surprise.

I share your sentiments. I know there's kink meme and an anon meme. Great for other things, but it's not entirely what I'm looking for in the end. There's also another community on LJ, but I know a lot of people moved away from the platform. I was surprised to see no comm of that sort on DW. So yeah, here we are. I definitely want keep this clear of shipwars and the like.

As for the High Speed reread session, I had intended to start in the first week of the new year. The translation by sunnyskies doesn't look like it will be completed any soon.

Discussion of other material: I didn't think of the drama cds, but yes we can do that. We could space out the other material without adhering to some strict schedule. I'm fine with that. No need to ask for my permission btw.

Fanwork activities: If there's any activities going on, feel free to post/link it. I don't write or draw for this fandom, so I'm completely out of the loop with certain things.

I want to see a masterlist of all translated doujinshi available for the fandom so far and/or translation posts from tumblr!

I can totally do that provided people give me links of doujinshi that exists...

Please do that. I know swimming-comics at tumblr collects pixiv translations, not sure if they have doujinshi... Free_iwatobi @ LJ has some links to doujinshi iirc.

Like this layout from fruitstyle: voixy. It's got a lot of blues going for it :D There's a tutorial somewhere that lets you important LJ sheets to Dreamwidth so you can use LJ styles....

Oh, also. I had some time to kill but would you prefer to have the doujinshi pages to have some colorful tables like so:

I was planning on making individual posts for each big ship :D But for smaller ships, I guess a ship column would be good...

Would you prefer for everything to be in one post, though? :)

(For some reason, dreamwidth doesn't do border tag to table.... it looks different in emails... )

Oh, I like that idea. :D Either is fine. I guess you could use multiple tables in a post, but what works better for you? Since you'll be updating the posts...

Dreamwidth's stylesheet seems to be overriding the table style. It would probably work in journal style though.

That just means working with a design that doesn't use borders, I guess :)
