frfr | Waterday Challenge 2014 - Free! Gen Fanwork Event

"Waterday Challenge" is a Free! event dedicated to Gen Fanworks. It will take place during the month of June until the second season airs. This is the post for all your information needs and questions.

What is "Gen" and why this event? It's a fanwork that contains no romantic or sexual content. I think this article does a decent job at explaining things. With the huge emphasis on shipping/romance, "Gen" seems to be the ignored little child in fandom. For this reason I'd like to provide a spotlight for gen fanworks. If anything, I want to show that Gen fanworks can have a place in fandom.

How do I participate? You have three options.

Themes
Each Waterday will have multiple themes. Your fanworks should go up on the day of the theme you're filling for.
Prompts
Prompts should be filled on a Waterday. People post their prompts (anonymously) in a prompt post. It's more specific than the themes, but they shouldn't be too specific. Leave room for creativity. Prompt post will remain open until June 11.
Freestyle
The last leg and the final stroke is the freestyle. Anything that doesn't fit into the above two, should be filled on the last day of the event after the last Waterday (June 25) and until Haruka's birthday (June 30)

Where? This is a multi-platform event. So basically you can post anywhere public, as long as you provide (a link to) your fanwork in the fills post. This is the only requirement. The fills post will go up on the first Waterday and will be used until the event ends.

For this event I have set up a collection at Archive of Our Own. It's part of the frfr collection (...it exists), which is a special place for rare characters, rare pairs and gen fic.

F.A.Q.

What type of fanworks are allowed?
Fanfics, fanart, fanmixes, fanvids, etc... It has to be your own work. Not the work of someone else.

Are hints of pairings okay?
"Gen" is stuff that anyone can enjoy regardless of ship-preference. No romance means no romance. In any case, I don't think there's a need for hints.

What about the Tachibana parents?
Canonly established couples may of course appear. However, the focus should not be about them being lovey-dovey with each other. I hope you understand.

What is a prompt?

What if my theme or prompt fill is late? Can I still post it on another day?
It's preferable that you post on the next Waterday. Otherwise the Freestyle option between 26 June until 30 June is an option to post your late fills. The idea is to spread the load. Rather than posting things on time, the point of the challenge is to make Gen stuff.

But why did you decide to end the event on a special theme? It's not even a Waterday.
It's not even a Waterday you say!?! We are speaking of St. Nanase Haruka, the patron of water! It is only fair to celebrate the birthday of the one who is most devoted to the water!

Serious answer: Because I can. 1. It's a good way to end the event. 2. I noticed that Haruka is being shipped around without much regard for his own character. The final challenge is to give him the spotlight on his birthday.
